Meltonian Monday: Bellini.

You know what? Despite us being the rural capital of food, Melton doesn’t actually have that many restaurants. I know. The travesty! This meant I spent about 48 hours going “Wait, what restaurant am I going to cover?”, and then realized that Bellini existed. ‘Cause any excuse I have to praise their lunch deal and calzone are welcomed.

Let’s start with that lunch menu or one of the biggest reasons I’ll swing by there every now and again. On Tuesdays to Saturdays between the hours of 12 pm, you can take advantage of the restaurant’s lunch menu. This menu allows you to choose a selected main and a soft drink for £10.95. The dishes include a mixture of pasta dishes, salads, pork loin and some additional dishes. I like the linguine con polpettine which is linguine served with meatballs. They are very delicious, I just have to make sure I avoid eating white that day. Not an issue on their end, I’m just a messy eater.

The menu also allows you to bolt on some extras. A glass of wine instead of a soft drink is an extra £2.50. An after-dinner coffee is an additional £2 and a fiver allows you to add a dessert. Now, I’ve been very hot on the whole “make sure that fiver goes to something good” train so when I tell you to spend that fiver, it’s for bloody good reason.

I have a SLIGHTLY unhealthy obsession with creme burlee. This is the girl who saw Creme Brulee on a cruise buffet and basically had two rounds’ worth of the stuff. This means, when there’s a good one of these buggers in Melton, I have to shout about it. I’ve had multiple brulees at Bellini and every single one has been a hit. The sugar is crisp, the custard is silky and the wafer on top? Just yes. It’s giving #foodporn. Orgasm afterwards is optional.

Slightly sexual point aside, I do need to cover their Calazone. This pocket of happiness features Salami, cheese and salami. So far, so pizza right? Enter the sauce! Now I still to this day don’t know what’s in that sauce. What I do know is that the sooner Bellini bottles that up and starts selling it separately, the better. For me. Not necessarily my bank account but you gotta pay for the good stuff right? I fell in love with this bad boy during the pandemic when the restaurant started to do delivery and it’s still one of my favourite dishes. I’m just waiting until it makes an appearance on the lunch menu.

I can also go on at length about how their garlic mushrooms are some of, if not the best in Melton. In short, if you like mushrooms and garlic, order this. Scoff it as soon as it hits the table. Thank me later.

Overall this restaurant is a must-visit. The food is of great quality. You can head there at lunch to get a high-quality meal, pud and drink for less than £20pp and it’s in a really good location. Regal and Cutting Room are on the doorstep to give you the chance to do a cinema trip and dinner or dinner and drinks. The Regal of course already getting a Meltonian Monday accolade and Cutting Room consistently setting the bar as far as late-night entertainment goes.

In short, this place is brilliant. Book a table ASAP.
