What’s Happening In Melton Mowbray (and the surrounding villages) this September.

Summer is over and September has arrived in Melton Mowbray. That means, a whole plethora of events include markets, bike races and tons more. Here’s what the month looks like in a nutshell.

This weekend (6th and 7th of September)

The lack of anything country music related in Melton Mowbray (or the surrounding villages for that matter) truly surprises me. Especially given our rural roots and values. Maybe that explains why the Stockyard have booked The Southern Frontier Country Band. This band will be performing on the 6th of September at 6 PM. Tickets are £6.50pp.

The monthly makers market returns on the 7th of September. This takes place at the Market Place located within the Melton Mowbray town centre and features a variety of stalls from various independent businesses. It takes place from 10 AM to 4 PM.

If you’re a keen cyclist who is looking to compete with the best, I’m going to tell you to head to Hose village on the 7th September. The Belvoir Blast bike race in Hose village, which starts at 8 AM. |Whether it’s your first ever race or if you’re a seasoned professional, you can choose from either a 28, 40, 60 or 100 mile course. Entry for the bike race is £25-£45 online or £30-£45 on the day. The fee includes a light lunch, a goodie bag and a finishers medal to remind you of what you achieved on the day. If you’re unsure what route’s best for you, check out British Cycling’s grading system for more information.

Next weekend (13th and 14th of September)

The highly popular Melton Record Fair returns to the Stockyard on the 13th of September. Alongside a variety of record stalls, you can check out the great live music at this free entry event. It takes place from 10am to 2pm. Also taking place at The Stockyard at the same time is Stockyard Saturday which features a variety of stalls from independent businesses, both local and beyond.

If you’re a lover of the 80s, head to the Stockyard on the 13th of September. The Absolutely 80s Roadshow features live music from Electric Vinyl with DJ Sean Neal spinning the best bangers on the decks. Tickets for this evening will set you back £14 plus any relevant booking fees.

The rest of the month (19th September onwards)

The annual Melton Beer, Cider and Gin Festival will be held at the Stockyard on September 19th and 20th from 11 AM each day. The variety of beverages at this event is always great given the size of the festival and the live music is a nice bonus. Entry for this event is £6.50 per person per day.

Lovers of Motown and Soul should block out the 20th of September. Madison Avenue UK will be live at the Harboro Hotel at 6 PM. Tickets are £30 and include a buffet. Combine that with their onsite bars and you’re set for the whole evening. If this sounds like your jam, grab your tickets from the bar.

If you want to see an artist that is currently all over the ITunes chart, then you need to book yourself a seat as the Melton Theatre host An evening with Katie Price and Kerry Katona. No, I’m not joking about the whole ITunes chart thing, check it yourself, Katie Price’s song from 2017 had a massive surge and ended up topping the UK ITunes chart. Both ladies will be at Melton Theatre on September 21st at 7 PM. Tickets are £25, with an optional £10 meet-and-greet and your seat can be reserved by visiting the Melton Theatre website.

The Fairy Wishes Enchanted Evening will be at the Stockyard on September 26th at 6 PM. Tickets are £7 if you buy them in advance or £12 on the door. Attendees will be able to enjoy 1-2-1 readings, unique shopping opportunities and relaxing therapies.

On September 27th, the Ultra 90s vs. Noughties Experience will be at the Stockyard starting at 7:30 PM, with tickets starting at £25.55. This night out is always a popular one and for good reason, as your favourite throwback anthems are transformed into a full scale production.

Also taking place on the 27th, is an 80s night at the British Legion. This evening is organised by the Melton Young Lions who will also be celebrating becoming a chartered club. Which is a very posh way of saying, that these guys are a brand new group that aims to create friendships and offer people who have lower social networks and/or face isolation opportunities to try something different. Tickets for this event are £10 and can be reserved by emailing contact@meltonyounglions.uk.

Don’t forget your local live music venues and resident DJs.

The Crown Inn in Old Dalby will be hosting live music every Saturday from 7:30pm.

Both the White Hart and Black Swan have live music every Saturday and Sunday night. Whilst the White Hart also offers live music on some Friday nights as well.

Meanwhile the Genny B hosts a resident DJ on Friday nights whilst Saturdays vary between their resident DJs, guest DJs and live music.

The Half Moon and Cutting Room host resident DJs on both Friday and Saturday nights. Whilst Tubes is open on Friday and Saturday nights and host a DJ from 11:30pm through to 4am.

In short, there is plenty to do this September so go and support it.

Love and virtual hugs,
Kelly
