Ah dry January. A month where we go from finding any excuse to have a beverage with alcohol to going completely cold turkey. In light of Leicestershire Live’s countdown, I decided to take a stand. Specifically a stand where I explain that non-alcoholic beverages in Melton aren’t just a pint of pop at the bar. As someone who now only drinks at major occasions (and even then it’s low % alcohol*), I feel I am a qualified girlie in this area. So without further ado here are 6 that are alcohol free but also brilliant.
Biscotti’s Milkshakes.

The new kids on the block who only opened last week (via Just Eat. Their eat in location opens at the start of February), have come into Melton with a vengance. Their specality milkshakes are something else, as I discovered yesterday. I personally ordered their bubblegum milkshake but their kinder and cookies and cream milkshakes are also stellar (mum and Rhys ordered these so I got to taste them). Definately one to check out if you need a sugary pick me up.
The Harboro Hotel’s smoothies.

If you want the fruity benefits of a smoothie but the presentation of a cocktail, the Harboro is a must visit. Their tropical smoothie is very close taste wise to the popular Pina Colada but there are a variety of other flavours available. Meaning there is plenty of choice depending on your fruit preferences. This is often my go to when I visit (if you get food, their butter chicken is excellent).
Fur And Feather’s mocktails.

Whilst they weren’t on the menu during my last venue (seriously guys, get on this if you haven’t already done so), Fur and Feather do excellent mocktails. You just have to ask them nicely. My go to outside of special events is a fruity concoction that is sweet without being sickly. Whilst I also had a brilliant non-alcoholic version of their pride cocktail in August. These mocktails are easily the most creative, at the time of writing, in Melton. Coupled with their DJs on weekends and you can get that night out vibe without the booze.
Montero’s Pink Lemonade.
Whilst I do miss their take on an alcohol free Pina Colada (RIP), their Pink Lemonade has filled this hole. Make with their own pink lemonade syrup, this drink provides a citrusy zing without being too bitter. You can find this delicious beverage in the homemade drinks section of the menu. Prefer traditional lemonade? Their Sherbet Lemonade is also pretty good.
More Coffee’s Pink Hot Chocolate.

Does a hot drink qualify for this list? Yes. Yes it does. Whilst many venues in Melton sell the traditional hot chocolate, More provides a sweet, pink twist. This drink is creamy, sweet and is what you want when it’s cold/wet/etc. Top tip, top it with cream and marshmellows for the ultimate treat yourself hot drink.
Ferneley’s Milkshakes

Imagine a place with ice-cream milkshakes where the only limit is the flavours in the counter. If you’re thinking, that sounds good, Ferneley’s is a must. These milkshakes are creamy, tasty and just the right amount of thickness. Pictured is their Blue Moo (this USED to be my favourite until they introduced their Party Ring flavour which is now my new obsession) which is toffee based and this beautiful colour.
Whether you need to warm up from the cold or need something to hold whilst you dance the night away, there are plenty of alcohol free drink options available. Got your own recommendations? Pop them in the comments section. Don’t forget to vote below regarding a guide to the best alcoholic drinks which I’ll look to post after the start of February.
