I now have faith that it’s coming home.

It’s time for this week’s Business Of The Week. Today I’m giving some love to Yum Yums, Melton Mowbray’s number 1 independent sweet shop. These guys tick the boxes for quantity, quality and great value for money so if you haven’t paid them a visit, do so ASAP. They are open Monday-Saturday from 9am to 4:30pm #meltonmowbray #sweetshop #sweets

Join me as we walk the MBBA nomination form alongside the various sponsorship packages on offer.

Join me as I wonder a football themed Super Saturday

It’s Friday guide day. From brunches to painting and everything else in between, you are spoilt for choice this week. So attend what you can and spread the word. It costs nothing to click/tap that share button and it helps more people learn about the fantastic things happening in the area.

If your child/young person can play FC26* better than I can, which I believe applies to 99% of people in Melton, make sure to sign them up for Saturday’s World Cup Tournament. It’s free to enter, and the matches will be played on the big screen. Melton BID and Melton Mowbray Town Estate also have other football-themed entertainment lined up as part of Super Saturday, so make sure to check it out if you’re in the area. *You might know it as FIFA

Our independent businesses are the backbone of this borough. From bakeries that sells incredible stuffed cookies to clothes shops, every independent has it’s own special stamp that makes the borough the fantastic destination it is. So naturally, there is a Best Independent Business category at this year’s Melton BID Business Awards. This is open to any business in the borough that is not a chain. If you’re ready to nominate your MVP, click the link in the comments section. Comment your favourite business to make sure they know nominations are open NOW

No your eyes are not deceiving you. We are having people from a whopping 26 countries visiting the borough at the end of the month.

I don’t fully understand the offside rule but I do know that we’re all going to believe that it’s coming home. Apparently. I’m not holding my breath after the recent New Zealand game but I thought that at the Euros and somehow we ended up in the final, so… 🤷‍♀️ Saturday’s Super Saturday will be football themed so make sure to check it out this Saturday (12th of June). It’s located at The Market Place and will feature a mixture of independent traders and themed entertainment. #worldcup #football #worldcup2026 #worldcupmemes

This month’s column is now live. This month I cover a little bit of Glastonbudget and how it reminds us that village flagship events need some love too. Don’t forget businesses (including events and community CICs) in the village can also be nominated for a Melton BID Business Award. They just need to be within the borough region. To submit your nomination click/tap https://meltonbid.co.uk/awards/ and complete the form.

Counting down the days until the next heatwave. Saying that I still have tub of Ferneley’s ice cream in the freezer.

It’s Friday guideday in the Melton Borough. Once again, there is plenty to do so attend what you can and spread the word. Oh and if you haven’t already done so, make sure to submit your nominations for this year’s Melton BID Business Awards by the 30th of June. Comment NOMINATE and I’ll send you the link.

Great Food Club have just announced they have received a whopping 3000 nominations for this year’s awards.

If you’re an Elton John fan and available on the 13th June, grab a ticket to this event.

2 courses and a drink for less than £20 in this economy? Yep and it’s 30 seconds away from one town’s biggest car parks. It’s been a fair while since I told you about the lunch deal that Bellini – Italian Restaurant offer. For just £11.95 you can a freshly cooked Italian dish and a soft drink. I am a sucker for their Linguine Con Polpettine (that’s pasta with tomato sauce and meatballs) and I stand by the fact that sauce needs to be jarred up. Fancy a sweet treat? You can pay an extra £6 to upgrade your 1 course meal to a 2 course one. If you do this, make sure to grab the creme brulee because it’s beautiful. I’m pretty sure it’s the best one in town. The deal is available between 12pm and 2pm from Tuesdays to Saturdays. It’s not available in December but every other month is fair game. Bellini’s is located at St Mary’s Way (next to Cutting Room).

Can I just say that I think it’s a crying shame that we’re in 2026 and comments have to be turned off for any posts tied to Pride? The fact this has to be the case is precisely why we need Pride to begin with.

If you’re one of the multiple people who’s asked about the entertainment at the entertainment village. The entertainment scheduled to take place this weekend has been cancelled. Normal service should be resuming this weekend.

This sign by The Grapes Pub – Melton Mowbray made me chuckle.

Melton Mowbray and the surrounding villages are ready to celebrate the end of the month. Payday weekend is here and there is SO MUCH to do this week. From the Beef Expo at The Stockyard to a movie-themed roller disco, there is plenty to do, irrespective of your budget and tastes. All right here is Melton Mowbray’s original (and most comprehensive might I add) what’s on guide. Share this with someone who needs to know what’s going on, and if you want to see more Melton borough content, follow me, if you haven’t already done so.

May is almost over. We’ve enjoyed poles, festivals and multiple bank holidays. Fortunately for us all, Melton Mowbray (and the surrounding villages) is full of amazing things to do this June. From school fates to strippers alongside the return of the highly popular Melton Green Week, there is something for all ages and budgets. Share this post and let’s do our bit to tell as many people in the area just what’s popping off this June.

Was anyone else woken up last night by the weather? Let me know whether you felt last night was louder/quieter than the fireworks.

If the chorus won’t leave my head, you must suffer with me.

Something to be aware of if you like football and/or handsome men.

If you told 2019 Kelly that she would one day get 5000 people following her on Facebook, she would think you’d lost the plot. I never thought, going into this, that My Melton would get as big as it has gotten. I just had a smartphone and a dream to ensure that locals knew what was in their area. Whether you were following number 1 or just joined the Lovely Follower Folk Club this weekend, I just wanna say thank you. Thank you for showing up. Thank you for saying hello to me offline. Above all else, thank you for visiting the different businesses and events that I cover on this page. Love and virtual hugs, Kelly

If you have now caught a case of the green eyed monster, I apologise. This is my forth visit to Glastonbudget. A 4 day tribute festival that takes place every year at Turnpost Farm in Wymeswold. Unfortunately, this year’s visit was more condensed that I would’ve liked due to the other half working a shift pattern that isn’t the typical 9-5. We did, however, enjoy 2 very warm days at the festival. So what did I like about it? Firstly, the acts once again were, for the most part, excellent. Stiff Bizket (Limp Bizket) and Meteora (Linkin Park) were joint first this year. The atmosphere was absolutely electric and I serious hope both acts because long term fixtures. I even got to partake in my first ever circle pit. The cocktails I had were great and at £6 a pint, my peach cider was a great bargain. My nemesis, the token system, was back but the queues to grab them weren’t too bad. However, the cups could do with being more pit proof. Those of you who have seen my reels/story already will now what happened after the Meteora set. My only niggle was that, once again, the showers closed at 5pm. Which meant going to sleep covered in sweat. If we could find a way to make the showers close later, Glastonbudget team, I would highly appreciate it. I will, however, praise the Poshwash team who were very efficient. I waited about 5 minutes tops yesterday when I went for my shower. If you want to get tickets for 2027’s festival at the best possible price, make sure to follow Glastonbudget on the socials. If this is the first time my content has appeared on your feed, hi, my name is Kelly. For the past 7+ years I’ve been highlighting the different businesses and events in and around Melton Mowbray. So if that’s of interest to you, follow me to be in the know. #Glastonbudget #Leicestershire #Festival #festivalreview #ukfestivals

Nominations for this year’s Melton BID Business Awards will be launching very soon. During the nominations window, I want to do a couple of live videos walking people through the process. I just need to know what days work best for you. Vote in the poll below. My live video dates will take place on the 2 days with the most votes. The plan is to do these lives within the same week of the launch so you have enough time to nominate till your heart’s content. If you have any questions about the awards that you want answering, please feel to contact James directly (I’ve tagged Melton BID in the post). Alternatively, pop your questions in the comments section and I will answer what I know and ask him what I don’t.

Join me as we pay our respects. Thank you festival cup for holding a fantastic Tokyo Iced Tea. Your sacrifice has not been forgotten. 🫡 Jokes aside Meteora (Linkin Park tribute) put on another cracking set yesterday at Glastonbudget. If you’ve seen my stories and are getting serious FOMO, don’t cry. I’ll post a link when 2027’s tickets drop. PS, I did get a replacement cup. Although I will be letting the other half watch it later on as I’m expecting the Limp Bizkit tribute to go OFF! #UKFestival #Glastonbudget #Leicestershire #Festival #MoshPit

Good morning from a very warm Glastonbudget campsite. Here’s a friendly reminder of what’s happening today within the Melton Borough. Unfortunately, there are no more adult tickets available for Glastonbudget, so if you watched my story yesterday and was like “that looks so much I wanna go today”, sorry you can’t. I do, however, plan to post the link to the 2027 tickets when they go live so you don’t miss out next year. Fortunately, there is still plenty to do regardless. Including many excuses to get a few bevs outdoors. If you do this, please stay hydrated and pace yourself. This heat is no joke. Stay safe. Love and virtual hugs, A very warm Kelly.

If you’re planning to visit the outdoor cinema tonight (hosted by Melton Mowbray Town Estate), here is how much you need you’ll need to budget for drinks. I’m 99% sure it’ll be the same/similar for the 2 brunches as well. Whilst outside food/drink can’t be brought into the Events Village (if you/someone you’re bringing with you has particular dietary requirements, feel free to contact Town Estates for clarity around this), there is plenty of open space for pre-film beverages and picnics. Not to mention a plethora of after dark entertainment for those of you who plan to venture out afterwards. Don’t forget folks, this is a free event. It’s not uncommon for event bars to charge similar, if not more expensive, and in alot of instances that’s on top of your ticket fee. Oh and the ice-cream kiosk is open. I’ve just paid £5.50 for a single scoop of Fernely’s Blue Moo and a can of pop.

It’s bank holiday weekend in Melton Mowbray. What a week, I have lined up for you, wonderful people. Expect MULTIPLE flagship events, live music everywhere, a Sunday night Tubes opening, half-time ideas if you’ve got demanding children and tons more. Watching your pennies? Check out the free entry stuff highlighted across this guide. Share this out to the masses to ensure everyone knows what’s happening this week and if you don’t already, follow me. I post a guide like this every week alongside a variety of other Melton borough based content. #MeltonMowbray #BankHolidayWeekend #ThingsToDoInMeltonMowbrayDuringBankHolidayWeekend #Halfterm

I feel like a proud mum. I’ll pop a link to the Xtreme Scream Park website in the comments section so you can go to the best Scream Park event in the WHOLE OF THE UK! I can’t wait to return in October and see what they have in store!

Are you stuck for Half Term ideas? Don’t worry. I’ve got you covered. Here’s a quick snapshot of what’s in the area next week. for the kids. If you’re a fellow childless human, don’t worry, there’s PLENTY happening from tomorrow onwards that you can enjoy.

In no particular order: 1. The Friday film according to the Melton Times is Wicked (the one with the singing witches). 2. The events this weekend at the events village are FREE. They’re on the website so you can plan accordingly. 3. The fair will also be open during bank holiday weekend in the park. This is separate to the event village.

Some sad news for those of you who were planning to check out Country On The Eye next month.

If you have a prostate please register and get tested. If you don’t have a prostate, please tell the people you know that have a prostate to register.

No, I won’t stop telling people that Melton Mowbray is the rural capital of live music and I won’t stop anytime soon. If you’re tired of the same old narrative that Melton Mowbray is just Pork Pies and pensioners, and follow me already, share this reel. If you’re tired of the pastry and pensioner narrative and don’t follow me, do so. I’ve spent 7+ years telling people what’s is in the Melton Borough (Melton Mowbray and the surrounding villages) and I’d love to tell you all about it. #meltonmowbray #whatIhave #leicestershire #livemusic

I got to see a lovely performance during the 1940s weekend by Thomas Corden. He performs at The Pie Shop on the last Friday of each month and has a selection of other gigs throughout the month. To learn more, check out his social media.

Fancy taking part in Tough Mudder and raising money for a great cause in the process? If so, check out this offer.

One of my favourite events on the My Melton calendar is back in July. After a very successful first outing (I’m talking shortlisted for best UK small event of the year successful), Melton SkaFest returns with a fantastic line-up. If you’re a lover of Ska, reggae or both, this is a must do. Check out the link in this comments to get your tickets. If you want to learn more about the different events and businesses in the Melton Borough, make sure to follow me if you haven’t already done so. #meltonmowbray #meltonskafest #ukfestival #festivals

Did you know that you can get discounted tickets for either Forbidden Forest (first weekend of June) or Glastonbudget (21st-24th May) if you live within the qualifying boundary? If you don’t and are on the fence about covering either festival, I would look at the relevant boundaries and find a proof of address ASAP. I honestly didn’t know about this until earlier on this week and you know me, I don’t believe in gatekeeping a cheeky discount. If you don’t already follow me, do that. I love posting about any cheeky discounts I can find when it comes to events in the borough. #ukfestival #leicestershire #Glastonbudget #forbiddenforest #discount

Fresh fruit and veg is within your grasp at Michelle’s Veg Patch. Located at Bowley Court, this independent greengrocers has a fantastic selection of fruit and veg on offer. Yes, that include some outstanding British produce so you can support farmers at the same time. The Bowley Court guys are partaking in Melton Green Week next month so it’s the perfectly excuse to and see why Michelle has been open since I was a tiny sprog. #meltonmowbray #greengrocers #supportlocal

It’s Friday guide day. Your one stop shop to what’s happening in Melton Mowbray and the surrounding villages. From the UK’s original tribute festival to FREE PIZZA, there is plenty to tickle your fancy this week. So attend what you can and spread the word. I do this to ensure as many people know what’s happening in the area as possible, sharing this post helps termendously. Love and virtual hugs, Kelly

Make sure to get tested if you have a prostate. It’s free and could save your life.

Could you find me a hairdressers in Melton that sells pigs ears and balloons? If you’re thinking to yourself “Kelly, of course I can’t, why would you ask me that on a Tuesday afternoon?”, not to worry, I just want to highlight that we don’t just have charity shops/cafés/hairdressers in Melton Mowbray’s Town Centre. We actually have a fantastic selection of independent retailers selling clothing, dog supplies, cute gift ideas and tons more. So if you’re one of those people who believes that we don’t have any “good shops”, please head into town and see for yourself. I plan to highlight more of these fantastic places during my business of the week series so if you don’t already, feel free to follow me. I also cover businesses in the villages alongside a variety of exciting events. #meltonmowbray #independentbusinesses #shopsinmeltonmowbray #shoplocal #shops
